Make sure to check with your respective airline before travelling.

A number of flights to and from Irish airports to and from various destinations in the United States and Europe have been cancelled due to severe weather on the east coast of America and an air traffic control strike in France.

Flights to and from Newark, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Newburgh, Paris, Barcelona, Malaga and Alicante are amongst flights that have been cancelled at Dublin Airport, while flights to and from London, Kuwait, Newark, New York and Newburgh have been affected at Shannon Airport.

Live flight information for Dublin Airport can be seen here and for Shannon Airport here.

A fourth storm in three weeks has battered the east coast of the United States in recent days, with heavy snow falling from New England all the way down to Virginia and forcing schools to close, disruptions to public transport and the cancellation of thousands of flights (up to 3,000 according to flight-tracking site Flight Aware) as a result.

An air traffic controllers strike in France, meanwhile, got underway at 6pm on Wednesday evening and is scheduled to last until 5am on Friday morning, with passengers travelling to various European destinations likely to be most affected on Thursday.

If you are due to fly in the coming days, especially to anywhere along the east coast of the United States, be sure to check with your airline before travelling.
