Numerous flights into and out of Dublin Airport have been cancelled

The airport said these cancelations were “mainly due to poor weather conditions at UK airports”.

As Ireland and the UK continue to be impacted by a cold snap of weather, Dublin Airport has confirmed that numerous flights to and from the location have been canceled.

In a statement posted to its social media, the airport said that – as of Monday afternoon (12 December) – 20 outbound and 27 inbound flights have been scrapped.

A spokesperson said that these cancelations were “mainly due to poor weather conditions at UK airports”.

Despite this, Dublin Airport is remaining “open and fully operational”.

“With the potential for sleet in the Dublin area this evening, the runways and taxiways at Dublin Airport are currently being pre-emptively sprayed,” the statement from the airport also reads.

“Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.”

The update from Dublin Airport follows Met Éireann issuing a new Status Orange frozen fog warning which applies to 21 counties.

Currently in effect and valid until midnight on Monday, it applies to the province of Connacht, as well as the counties Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Tipperary and Westmeath.

“Freezing fog, dense in places, will persist through the afternoon and into tonight, leading to very hazardous driving conditions,” it reads.
