Six hospitalised following roller coaster derailment in Florida

The incident took place late on Thursday night.

A roller coaster derailed at a Florida amusement park, which resulted in a number of people being hospitalised.

Following the derailment, the front car of the roller coaster was left dangling from the track.

Two people fell from that front car, approximately 34 feet from the car to the ground below, and both were taken to hospital, and are said to be in a serious condition.

The car held four people, and the other two riders were left suspended from the track, and they and another two riders were also taken to hospital.

Sasha Staton, the public information officer for the Daytona Beach Fire Department, told USA Today that “The front car completely came off the tracks … it was dangling”, before stating that the department was unclear how the roller coaster came to be derailed, but that the track itself appeared to be fully intact.
