Fluich sake; Leinster issued with heavy rain warning by Met Eireann

Eric Lalor

Met Eireann have just issued a heavy rain warning for the Leinster area, just in time for the weekend.

Brace yourselves lads, as Saturday looks like it could be one massive downpour in Leinster. In its weather warning issued at 10am today Met Eireann said: “Heavy and persistent rain expected. Rainfall amounts of 40 to 70 mm over 24 hours are likely. The warning is valid from 3am tonight to 6am Sunday.”

Eastern coastal counties are likely to be worst hit, with warnings of localised flooding in some areas. If you’re planning on heading out on Saturday, make sure you’re dressed accordingly with wellies and raincoats being the order of the day.

Someone somewhere will ignore all this and will, through blind determination alone, have a barbecue. We salute you.
