The 35-year-old won Gold at last summer’s Olympic Games in Paris.
Retired boxer Kellie Harrington has announced that she would be interested in running for president.
Harrington hung up the gloves after winning gold at the 2024 Olympic Games and now has her eyes on Áras an Uachtaráin, with Michael D Higgins’ term coming to an end later this year.
She told Oliver Callan on RTÉ Radio One on Monday: “I have no clue how to go for the President’s role, but lookit, I’m the President of Dublin 1, and that’s all that matters, really.”
Harrington added that she would love to “live in his gaff,” she continued, “Imagine living up there. The dogs would have an absolute ball up there.”
According to The Irish Mirror, Ladbrokes have now set Harrington at 12/1 to enter the Irish presidential race.
Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes said: “The ballot is starting to fill up with familiar names and Kellie is the latest to throw her hat in the ring.
“Punters want it and so does Kellie!”
Former Eurovision winner Linda Martin also told Oliver Callan that she was considering running for president.
Speaking on his show last month, the 72-year-old said: “In future, you should address me as Lady President.
“I’m saying nothing at all. That’s all I’m saying. You’ll have to wait and see now. Can you imagine all the dogs in Áras?.”
The 2025 Irish presidential election is scheduled to take place on or up to 60 days before November 11th, 2025.
Other rumoured candidates include former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Social Democrats co-founder Róisín Shortall.
