Four new gold zones have been discovered in Ireland and we want some

Paul Moore

Grab your shovels and head north.

Who needs road frontage when you can say that the streets outside of your home are paved with gold. While this isn’t exactly 100% true, the people of Clontibret, Co Monaghan can proudly say that they’re living next to a newly discovered gold mine, four of them to be precise.

After years of soil sampling, trenching and core drilling, Conroy Gold have stated that four new gold zones have been created following their recent drilling programmes. Howe much gold is in the area? It’s estimated that there are five million ounces.

Speaking with The Irish Times, Prof Richard Conroy says that “the newly discovered gold zones significantly upgrade the potential of the Glenish gold target, which is close to our already established Clay Lake- Clontibret gold target, and further enhances the prospectivity of the company’s gold licences in Ireland,”

Does anyone else fancy wading through the rivers of the Farney County with a net, shovel and sieve?
