Funeral for Jamey Carney to take place this week

Ms Carney, formerly of Westchester, New York, was found dead at home in Killarney last Tuesday.

A notice placed online said Ms Carney was "sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her adored and dearly loved daughter Michaela, mother Kathleen, sister Devon, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends especially Lily and Liga."

Jamey is pre-deceased by her father James Carney.

A private cremation will take place afterwards.

Gardai confirmed to JOE on Monday that a person of interest had been detained in Jordan, despite Gardai making no such request of the Jordanian authorities.

Ahmad Al-Saqar, 28, who is originally from Jordan was at the centre of an international manhunt after Ms Carney's body was found.

There is currently no extradition between Ireland and Jordan. It is understood he can be held for up to 15 days by police in Jordan.

Gardai believe Mr Al Saqar boarded a 3am bus to Dublin last Tuesday morning before flying to Turkey. He had left Ireland before Gardai could notify ports and airports.
