The funeral mass for Detective Garda Colm Horkan will take place in Charlestown, Mayo on Sunday.
Detective Garda Horkan was killed following a shooting in Castlerea in Roscommon on Wednesday night.
His funeral will take place in at St. James’ Church, Charlestown, at 12pm on Sunday.
An Garda Síochána and Detective Garda Horkans’ family are aware of the current Government Public Health Guidelines and are taking every precaution to ensure that Detective Garda Horkans’ funeral and burial is performed in accordance with the spirit of the guidelines while affording Detective Garda Horkan formal State Honours.
Arrangements are being made by Gardaí to have the service broadcast on www.seeitonline.ie.
At 12pm, Gardaí around the country will observe a minutes silence in tribute to the popular garda and to pay their respects and express their sympathy and solidarity with the family
Flags on Government and other State buildings will be lowered to half mast in tribute.
In support of public health guidelines, An Garda Síochána requested that members of the public, wishing to express their sympathies and condolences can also observe a one minute silence at 12pm at their homes.
