There’s no one stereotype that defines people from Dublin. From the ‘scobe’ with his cheap and not so cheerful alcoholic beverage, to the affluent Dube-wearing ‘D4’, there’s a nice mix in the melting pot that is the capital city.

So DIT visual communications student Derek Doyle recently decided to explore the depth of stereotypes in Dublin with the ten images above.

Here’s what Derek has to say about the illustrations: “10 images (5 men, 5 women) each depicting people from various different social groups and backgrounds that are found in Dublin.

“Careful considerations made on clothing, expression, hair, makeup, body language and tags. Characters all based on the same person to highlight that people are a blank canvas and stereotypes make up the facade.”

In fairness to Derek he has hit the nail on the head with each illustration and we’re sure you’ll spot one or two familiar faces in there too.
