Now that’s good customer service in Glenamaddy…

It may have slipped your mind but, Pancake Tuesday is coming up next week.

Yes, we’re already planning the various syrup filled creations we can create when Tuesday comes around.

But the day after is Ash Wednesday, and as such, many of you will be getting the signature ashes on your forehead from your local church.

But sometimes, it can be difficult to take time out of your busy day to make the trip down to the parish priest to get your bit of charcoal and water.

One parish in Galway believe they’ve the ideal solution for commuters, busy farmers with cows calving and ewes lambing and those just that wee bit lazy.

According to the Farmer’s Journal, Glenamaddy pastoral council have made the decision to offer a drive-thru service at their church for those wishing to receive their blessing.

For those who can’t attend mass on the day, you will be able to drive your car/tractor/moped through one gate of the church from 8am to 9.30am, get your ashes from the sanctuary of their vehicle, and then exit through another gate.

Forward thinking from the Glenamaddy pastoral council.
