The driver was found on the wrong side of road and with an open bottle of wine.
With regards to the recent statistics that relate to road safety, there were 10 fatalities on Irish roads during the month of July. 737 people were also charged for driving while intoxicated.
As they frequently do, the Garda Traffic Corps were out in force on Irish roads over the August Bank Holiday weekend as they turned their attention towards implementing operations Surround and Lockdown.
These initiatives involved various Garda members establishing and conducting Mandatory Intoxication Testing (MIT) checkpoints around the country.
For example, the Gardaí said that 214 drivers in Dublin were tested for alcohol and/or drugs on the evening of August 3. All of these drivers passed.
The same can not be said though for a motorist in Roscommon that was arrested after being found to be 11 times over the limit.
