Gardaí seize €200,000 worth of cannabis after stopping vehicle in Longford

That’s a lot of cannabis to have stored in one vehicle.

A man in his 50s has been arrested after cannabis herb (subject to analysis) with an estimated street value of €200,000 was seized in Longford on Thursday.

As part of an intelligence-led operation targeting a west Dublin organised crime gang, Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda Special Crime Task Force stopped a vehicle in Edgeworthstown on Thursday (7 February).

During the course of a search of the vehicle, cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €200,000 was seized.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and was detained at Granard Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

He is due to appear at Mullingar District Court on Friday.
