Gardaí make arrest in relation to the homicide of an infant in Dublin

A woman in her 40s was arrested on Wednesday morning.

Gardaí investigating the homicide of an infant child that occurred on Monday evening, 10 July, arrested a woman in her early 40s in Dublin on Wednesday morning.

The arrested woman is currently detained at Crumlin Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The woman, who is the mother of the three-year old boy fatally wounded in the incident, is from the Middle East and sustained knife wounds in the incident which required hospital treatment.

Earlier this week, Gardaí said that they were “treating the case as a personal tragedy” and were not looking to speak with anyone else in connection with the incident.
