Gardaí investigate case of Irish Rail security guard beaten up and locked in boot for hours

Man arrested 39 deaths

Gardaí are investigating the assault of an Irish Rail security guard by a group of up to six men which left him locked in the boot of his own car for nine hours.

The alleged incident which involved a security guard at an Irish Rail compound occurred at approximately 5am on Tuesday morning, 5 December.

The victim arrived for work that morning at the Kilbricken, Mountrath area in Co Louth when he was suddenly approached by a group of up to six men who went on to assault him and locked him into his car’s boot before fleeing the scene by car.

According to RTÉ Radio One’s Drivetime, an Irish Rail spokesperson announced that a number of items were also stolen from the site in County Louth.

Gardaí have announced that they are now investigating an incident of assault and false imprisonment.
