Gardaí investigating attempted carjacking incident in Dublin

Several parked cars were crashed into during the same incident.

On Friday night (25 October), Gardaí in Lusk in County Dublin were alerted about a car driving dangerously in the area.

Following a number of enquiries by investigating Gardaí, they discovered that the car in question had been stolen during a burglary in Maynooth in Kildare, on Thursday 24 October.

On Friday evening, the stolen car had collided with a number of parked cars in the Whitethorn Walk are of Lusk, before the driver abandoned this car.

He then attempt to hijack another car in the area, threatening the driver.

Gardaí confirmed that the driver received no injuries during this incident.

Gardaí from Lusk, Balbriggan, and the Armed Support Unit have arrested a man in connection with this investigation in the area.

He is currently detained at Balbriggan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4- Criminal Justice Act 1984, but investigations are continuing into the incident.
