Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a dead body in Galway city.
The body of a man was found on Monday (15 October) afternoon near the ground’s of Galway City Hall on College Road.
The man’s name and age have not been made public, though it is believed that he was originally from the Galway area.
The man’s cause of death remains unconfirmed, but the remains have been moved to University Hospital Galway for a postmortem examination.
Galway City Council had been scheduled to meet this afternoon but this meeting has been postponed following the man’s death.
The scene where the remains were found has been sealed off for Gardaí to conduct a technical examination.
