Gardaí investigating after dog is shot and killed in Longford

It is also reported that an official Garda firearm was discharged.

Both the Gardai and Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission are investigating following on from an incident in Longford.

In their official statement, the Garda Press Office had the following to say:

“As part of an on-going investigation by Gardai from Longford, they attended at an incident in Granard earlier this evening the Tuesday 3 December 2018.

“During the course of this incident an official Garda firearm was discharged. As this incident has been referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission, An Garda Siochana are not in a position to comment further.”

According to RTE News, it is being reported that Gardaí, who were following up on a investigation, became involved in a confrontation, and a Garda discharged a shot towards an Alsatian dog.

A man that was nearby received minor injuries to his leg from a ricochet.
