It is understood that a number of people were involved in the altercation.
Gardaí are investigating after a teen was seriously injured during a brutal assault with a hammer in Cork on Saturday.
The 18-year-old was seriously injured after the attack which occurred at a business premises in Bishopstown in Cork.
The teen was reportedly walking home with his cousin past a petrol station when a car suddenly pulled up and multiple men targeted the pair.
He was then reportedly beaten with a hammer, according to Cork Beo.
Gardaí told JOE on Sunday that they are investigating the incident of assault.
It is understood that a number of persons were involved in the altercation.
They added that the man who was seriously injured during the incident was treated at the scene by Ambulance services and taken to Cork University Hospital.
Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
