In this instance, they were targeting those who made false claims of injury sustained through slips and falls.

The Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) on Wednesday engaged in an operation, arising from an investigation relating to over twenty (20) insurance claims which have been made and which, in some cases, have already involved payment being made to claimants.

Investigations carried out by the GNECB, indicate that a number of targets in this operation have submitted multiple insurance claims, in many circumstances while using false identities.

The suspected bogus claims involved in the case result from false claims of injury sustained through slips and falls.

As part of the operation, a number of searches were carried out in west Dublin, for the purpose of gathering additional evidence, to further the cases against those those suspected of insurance related criminality.

Further search warrants were also issued.

Arising from these searches, six high value cars and jewellery with a value in excess of €300,000 was seized along with a substantial amount of documentation and financial records.

Gardaí have said the operation was conducted for the purpose of enhancing the force’s capacity to tackle an increasing range of criminal activity associated with insurance fraud.
