Gardaí suspect arson after a house in Louth caught fire yesterday.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an incident last night in which significant damage was caused to a house in Dundalk last night.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at a house in the Bay Estate area of Dundalk shortly after 11pm on Sunday. Local fire services were eventually able to bring the blaze under control, and most of the damage is confined to the exterior of the house, according to a statement by An Garda Síochána.

No injuries were reported following the fire.

The investigation into the incident is underway, and a full examination of the scene is currently being carried out by Garda scenes of crime officers.

Additionally, Gardaí are seeking witnesses to the incident, particularly “anyone who was in the Bay Estate area between 10.30pm and 11.30pm last night to come forward. They are also appealing for information on the movements of a white van in the Bay Estate area earlier in the day at approximately 3pm.”
