Gardaí make fresh appeal for witnesses to serious assault during DJ set at Electric Picnic

The incident took place between 10pm and midnight on the first day of the festival.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an assault during this year’s Electric Picnic Festival in Stradbally, Laois.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said the incident occurred on Friday, 2 September sometime between 10pm and midnight in the Today FM Sound Garden during a set by DJ Jamie Maguire.

The assault is alleged to have happened during the last song of the set.

One man aged in his 30s was taken to Tullamore Hospital in Offaly and was later transferred to St James’s Hospital in Dublin to be treated for non-life-threatening but serious injuries.

The spokesperson said investigations into the assault are ongoing.

Gardaí in Portlaoise are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to make it available to them.
