Gardaí seek witnesses after “serious road traffic collision” in Castlebar, Co. Mayo

The incident occurred late on Saturday night.

Gardaí in Castlebar, Co. Mayo are investigating a serious road traffic collision which occurred at Breaffy, Castlebar, Co Mayo at approximately 10.50pm on Saturday, September 29 2018.

According to a statement by An Garda Síochána, two pedestrians were injured following a collision involving a car. The woman involved was 31 years old and the man was 34 years old.

The injured female received serious head injuries, the male pedestrian and driver of the car received minor injuries. All three injured persons were taken to Mayo University Hospital. None of the parties involved in the incident have been publicly named.

Garda forensic collision investigating officers are at scene and the road is currently closed to traffic. Local diversions are in place.

This follows news that a man in his 30s has died in Dublin in the early hours of Sunday morning, after he was struck by a van.
