Gardaí appeal for witnesses following serious road collision in Portlaoise

Gardaí in Portlaoise are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision that occurred on the M7 motorway northbound at junction 17 on Monday 15 October.

The collision occurred at approximately 6pm and involved a male pedestrian and a vehicle.

The 15-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin where he remains in a critical condition, while the male driver of the truck was uninjured.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or any road users and taxi drivers who may have Dash Cam footage who were in the area of the M7 motorway at junction 17 at 6pm on Monday.

They are also requesting any people travelling on the Abbeyleix Road in Portlaoise between 5pm and 6pm on Monday evening to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057  867 4100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
