This morning has been a little on the damp side in many parts of the country, but it looks likely to be getting worse. Much worse in fact.

Met Éireann has warned of flash flooding throughout the country, with rain set to reach 33mm in Munster and Leinster over the next 24 hours, while also adding that the heavy rain is expected to last right up until Thursday.

“There is some very heavy rain forming in places this morning. It’s bad enough in Dublin, but it’s much worse in South Munster – in places like Waterford and Cork areas,” forecaster Vincent O’Shea told The Independent.

With more expected rainfall, motorists have been urged to take extra caution on the road and on the bright side, things are predicted to improve for the weekend.

“Things might improve for the weekend. It might not be entirely dry from Friday onwards, the rain should be small,” O’Shea added.

Every cloud and all that.
