Glenn Whelan appeared to be walking on egg shells recently after accusations of an involvement in a prank on Michael Owen’s car, but the guilty offenders have come forward. Including Whelan’s international teammate.

Stoke may be about as exciting a watching paint dry on the field, but off the field they appear to be far more entertaining. Whelan was of course at the heart of the prank on Kenwyne Jones that did not go down well – a pig’s head in the locker isn’t a laughing matter to those of certain religious persuasions – but there was the egging of Michael Owen’s car that brought smiles to many faces. And it appears that Whelan was not the main culprit behind this one.

It was childish and funny, the way all pranks should be, and the lads really went to town on the former England man’s car. In fairness, Owen had plenty of time on his hands at the Britannia, so cleaning the car would at least have given him something to do.

Whelan was seen as one of the yolks involved, but it was in fact his Irish team-mate Jon Walters and defender Robert Huth who have confessed to the crime. A guilty conscience can be a powerful thing and the two lads probably needed to come clean before moving on with their lives. Though it must be said the two don’t appear overly remorseful.

The main thing is that the two lads learn a valuable lesson. If you are going to destroy a teammates car, avoid the guy with the biggest Twitter following.

And yes, we noticed Huth has a freakishly long middle finger too!
