Cocaine and cannabis were also seized in the raids.

Gardaí are investigating after a number of firearms, namely three GLOCK handguns, were intercepted and seized in postal packages destined for Ireland from the United States.

In a joint operation between An Garda Síochána and the United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), they detected a number of automatic weapons due to be delivered to locations around Dublin.

On Friday, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Special Crime Task Force searched three addresses in Stepaside, Carrickmines and Newcastle in Dublin as part of the operation.

A quantity of cocaine and cannabis was seized during the course of the searches.

Three people aged 26, 27 and 38, were initially arrested under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act but have all been released without charge.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and investigations are still ongoing.
