The Health Minister witnessed the robbery while canvassing.
Leo Varadkar, the Minister for Health, was caught up in an armed robbery while canvassing in Dublin this evening.
Independent.ie’s Philip Ryan has reported the incident, which occurred in a Spar store in Carpenterstown Road in Castleknock at 7pm tonight.
Varadkar witnessed the robbery but was not injured in the incident.

The Dublin West TD had just arrived at the scene when two males, armed with a gun and a sword, were escaping with money.
Gardaí have been interviewing witnesses.
“A guy ran by me but it was all over by the time I arrived.
“Unfortunately, burglaries have affected every area of the country in recent years and I’m just glad no-one was hurt or harmed,” Mr Varadkar told Independent.ie.
