Here’s when we can expect snow this week

Carl Kinsella

We didn’t get a white Christmas this year, but there’s still time for a white January.

Met Éireann has forecasted that snow will become increasingly likely as the week wears on. Snow and sleet are likely to begin on Wednesday and carry through the next 24 hours.

On Thursday, “the highest risk of snow will be in the morning and during the evening and night,” which is an elaborate way of saying “pretty much the whole day.”

The winter weather is also likely to continue into Friday, but the snow will be joined by more sleet and rain — meaning that it’s unlikely to stick.

There’s also the possibility that it’ll still be snowing by Saturday and Sunday next week. Fingers crossed we get enough for at least one snowball fight.

In typical Irish fashion, there will also be sunny spells on Monday and Wednesday, but it’s likely to stay cold throughout the week.
