It’s up, but not by much.
TD’s Michael Noonan and Paschal Donohoe have announced the main details of Budget 2017 but with an unemployment rate of 7.8%, it’s very likely that there’s an interest in the Jobseeker’s Allowance rates.
The main relevant detail is that all social welfare payments, including the carer’s and disability allowance, will be rising. There’s also going to be an 85% Christmas bonus paid to Social Welfare recipients in 2016.
This being said, Anti Austerity Alliance TD Paul Murphy is critical of the measures taken.
What's this govt's problem with young unemployed people? Measly €5 for many but young ppl don't even deserve that apparently. #Budget2017 pic.twitter.com/2519CBfXFw
