Here’s how much shoppers can save on Christmas shopping by heading to the North

Will you be heading North?

Carl Kinsella

The manager of a major Northern Ireland shopping centre has said that customers from the Republic of Ireland can make major savings by doing their Christmas shopping in the North.

Speaking to the Newry Democrat, Peter Murray, manager of the Buttercrane Shopping Centre in Newry, said that shoppers to migrate North for a big Christmas shop could save as much as 43% thanks to the weakness of the pound.

Murray reported that last year, half of all customers in the Buttercrane were Euro customers in the week before Christmas.

As it stands, Murray is reporting a 10% increase of customers from the Republic in his shopping week on week as December approaches.
