Here’s how Trump’s executive order on immigration will affect people based in Ireland

Carl Kinsella

Citizens of the countries named in Donald Trump’s mid-week executive order on immigration controls will not be able to access the US through Ireland, the US Embassy in Dublin has confirmed.

The 90-day ban on people from Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Sudan, Syria, Somalia and Libya is in effect at the US pre-clearance area in both Dublin and Shannon airports.

The US Embassy in Dublin has also confirmed that any previously scheduled visa meetings with citizens of those seven countries have now been cancelled.

Citizens of countries that available of the Visa Waiver Programme, such as Ireland, will still be admitted to the United States as long as they are approved by the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) which has been the case for years.
