Weather

There’s going to be plenty of sunshine.

With the small matter of a World Cup final, quarter-finals in the hurling and the start of the Super 8s, there’s no denying that this weekend is going to be a sporting one and if you fancy heading to your nearest beer garden, here’s what’s expected on the weather front.

Today is expected to be mainly dry with isolated light showers. The best amount of sunshine is expected in the south with top temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in the north and northwest, but 21 to 24 degrees elsewhere.

In terms of temperatures, the mercury will be highest in the inland areas of Munster and south Leinster. Tonight is expected to be dry with a mix of cloud, clear spells and patchy mist forming in certain areas.

As for Friday, it’s set to be another dry day that alternates between sunny spells and cloudy periods. This being said, a few afternoon showers may occur in parts of Munster and south Leinster during the afternoon. Top temperatures ranging 20 to 23 degrees celsius.

Friday night looks set to be humid with patchy rain, drizzle and mist starting to edge in from the Atlantic affecting parts of Connacht, west Ulster and west Munster overnight.  Elsewhere, it will remain dry and cloudy.

As for the weekend, Saturday is expected to be warm with temperatures in the low to mid-twenties. The best of the sunshine and he highest temperatures will be in the east and southeast, with cloudy and misty conditions prevailing further west.

Patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue to affect parts of Connacht, west Ulster and west Munster.

Similar conditions are expected for Sunday with occasional light rain or drizzle, which will be generally more prevalent and/or persistent about Atlantic coastal counties during the afternoon. Top temperatures of 20 to 23 degrees generally, but 17 to 19 degrees in some of the Atlantic coastal fringes.
