Here’s how week’s weather is shaping up

After Storm Lorenzo, here’s what’s in store.

Another storm has passed and while umbrellas up and down the country got a severe test, it appears that Storm Lorenzo didn’t have too much of a detrimental impact aside from power outages in certain parts of Ireland and incidents of flooding on the west coast, which bore the brunt of the impact.

While conditions are expected to be better this week, it’s still going to be wet as plenty of rain has been forecast over the coming days.

Here’s what’s in store, according to Met Éireann.

Showers are expected to develop on the west coast on Monday morning and afternoon. The showers will spread east and towards the northwest, where they’re expected to become more widespread during the afternoon and evening.

Monday night will see a mix of clear spells and showers, some heavy, especially over the western half of the country.

Sadly, the rainy conditions will continue into Tuesday where it’s set to be a cool, blustery day with bright or sunny spells and widespread heavy showers, some prolonged and possibly a few thundery ones as well.

Heavy showers will continue into Tuesday night, especially over the western half of the country and in Ulster.

Wednesday will see similar conditions with a mix of sunny spells and heavy or prolonged showers. Further heavy showers are expected on Thursday too, but they’re set to die out during the evening and early night.

Looking ahead to the weekend, there will be persistent rain on Friday that’s set to spread eastwards across the country and it will be  heavy at times.

Saturday is set to be a bright day with sunshine and scattered showers, while Sunday will see bands of heavy showers and longer spells of rain.

All in all, have the umbrella handy.
