Here’s what you should eat and drink in order to stave off erectile dysfunction…

We’ll wait for all of you to stop sniggering.

According to Lloyds Online Doctor, erectile dysfunction is a problem affecting half of all men over 50 in Ireland.

New studies suggest that some penis problems could be preventable, simply by consuming the right kinds of food.

Research conducted by the University of East Anglia and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that a diet rich in fruits can help decrease the risk of erectile dysfunction. The findings were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The crucial component of the fruits are metabolites called ‘flavonoids’. They are responsible for the blue colouring in blueberries and the red colouring in raspberries. Berries are a great way to get your fill of flavonoids, but they can also be found in red wine and in certain teas.

“Men who regularly consumed foods high in these flavonoids were 10 percent less likely to suffer erectile dysfunction. In terms of quantities, we’re talking just a few portions a week,” said Aedin Cassidy, the lead author of the study.

So there you have it, if you want to maintain good sexual health well into your fifties and beyond – get the berries into you.
