Here’s everything that you need to know ahead of the first US Presidential debate

Everything you need to know.

After all the talk, gaffes and rhetoric, tonight sees the first live televised debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump ahead of November’s presidential election.

After Hilary Clinton’s recent pneumonia diagnosis, recent questions have focused on her health while Donald Trump’s campaign has been absolutely littered with controversy.

Here’s everything that you need to know.

Time it starts: US at 9pm – which is 2am Irish time.

Moderator: Lester Holt, Anchor, NBC Nightly News

Location: Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY

Format: The first debate will be divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on major topics to be selected by the moderator. The moderator will open each segment with a question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. Candidates will then have an opportunity to respond to each other. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a deeper discussion of the topic.

The agenda: America’s Direction, Achieving Prosperity and Securing America are all up for debate, but organisers say that current news topics can also be used.

Duration: 90 minutes.

Where to watch it: Sky News start their coverage from 11pm this evening, Channel 4 will be on air from 1:45am, CNN will be live with it from 2am and Sky Atlantic are also broadcasting it from 1:20 am.
