14 condoms filled with a liquid form of cocaine have been intercepted en route to the Vatican.

Customs officials in Germany discovered the package worth £40,000, which was being sent to the postal centre in the holy city.

Bild am Sonntag reports that the German authorities handed the package over to Vatican police, who staged a sting in the hope that someone would come to collect the drugs.

However, nobody has claimed the package amid reports of a tip-off.
