Sounds like Clare’s 19-year-old goal-scoring star yesterday is planning a busy winter. More likely he left his Twitter account open for one of his team-mates…

Shane O’Donnell is as close to living the dream that any 19-year-old hurler will ever get. He scored a frankly ridiculous 3-3 in yesterday’s all-Ireland final, all from play, and while he faded a touch in the second half, that haul, combined with Clare’s dramatic win, means that he will be a hero in the Banner  until the end of his days and beyond.

Jokingly, Mayo footballer Michael Conroy, among others, suggested that the youngster will be very popular with the ladies after his Croke Park heroics and now it seems the man himself agrees.

We have more than a strong suspicion that one of the lads on the train home grabbed his phone and tweeted this on his behalf but whatever the story behind it, it gave us the biggest laugh of the day in JOE Towers.

We await Ruby’s response…

UPDATE: As expected, it was indeed a pesky team-mate who tweeted it, the guilty man being named as Podge Collins…
