The storm known as Haiyan is estimated to be one of the most ferocious ever recorded, with winds gusting to over 220mph.

The Philippines is currently bracing itself to cope with one of the most powerful storms the world has ever seen. The central area of the country, around Cebu province, is expected to be hardest hit, with millions fleeing the area looking for shelter.
