Very sad news.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, Gardaí began the investigation into the discovery of a man who had been found in the Dublin City Centre.

At around 4am, his body was discovered on Suffolk Street and he had been brought to James’ Street Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It is understood that the man had been sleeping rough, and the coroner had announced earlier today that he did not suspect foul play.

Later on Thursday afternoon, it was confirmed that a 26-year-old mother of two had also been found dead in the last 24 hours.

RTÉ reported that the woman was also homeless, but was found dead in a Kildare hotel that she was staying in with her two children.

The Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) released a statement, giving their condolences to the family of the deceased woman:

“It is particularly poignant in light of the fact that the woman had been offered and had accepted a social house from South Dublin County Council.”

“Leixlip House [the hotel the deceased was discovered in] is not leased by the DRHE but there is a contract with the facility to provide emergency accommodation to homeless families.”
