A homeless woman in her 20s has died in a Dublin hostel

Tragic news.

A young woman has died in emergency accomodation in Dublin.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at a hostel on Parkgate Street.

The woman in question is believed to be in her late 20s.

The Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) released a statement following the death of the woman, saying: “On behalf of the four Dublin local authorities, [DHRE] would like to express its condolences to the family and friends of the young woman, who tragically passed away yesterday evening (Wednesday 15 January) in a facility that provides 24-hour emergency accommodation to people experiencing homelessness. The Gardaí & DRHE staff were in attendance.”

Gardaí said that they were called to the scene of a sudden death of a female in her late 20s that occurred at approximately 5pm at Parkgate Street, Dublin 7 on Wednesday 15 January.

Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH) also issued a statement following the incident.

“A tragic death in emergency accommodation last night,” ICHH said on social media.

“Our deepest sympathies to the woman’s family and friends. This week has seen the death of a homeless woman, a homeless man injured for life during a tent removal and our teams assisted 126 people on outreach last night.”
