If you were hoping to get home in time using the Luas tonight, we've got bad news

You might want to make alternative travel plans.

Getting home this evening for all Red Line Luas commuters will be a little tricker than usual, as the Dublin tram, located on the north side of the city, is currently experiencing some pretty serious disruptions due to a technical fault.

At the time of writing, trams travelling from Saggart to Tallaght are only running as far as Blackhorse, while there are no services at all running between Blackhorse and Smithfield.

As well as this, there is also a limited amount of services running between Smithfield and The Point. Services on the Green Line are unaffected and will continue to operate as normal.

For those affected, Luas tickets will be valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of the disruption. Updates will be continuously posted to their website right here.

Luas Customer Care posted a statement online, apologising for the mishap: "Please accept our apologies for any and all inconvenience caused."
