The DSPCA shared some graphic images of the horse that some readers may find distressing.
An injured horse was found in a house in north Dublin on Tuesday "with injuries consistent with being set alight".
The DSPCA rescued the horse, a young stallion, who was found in "poor condition".
He was moved to the DSPCA Rescue Centre and has been examined by the veterinary team.
The DSPCA said that he is suffering from burns on his face and neck, as well as a burnt mane and eye lashes.
The case is currently under investigation by the Gardaí in Coolock Station and the DSPCA.
