Break out the BBQ, today is set to be the hottest day of the year

JOE

You thought yesterday was hot?

It’s time to increase the suncream factor as today is set to be the hottest day of the year, with temperatures set to hit 25 degrees.

We have been blessed with fantastic weather the last few weeks and yesterday was no different, with temperatures hovering above the 20 mark.

The mercury recorded the warmest day of the year yesterday, with the south-east, in particular, enjoying the best of the sunshine.

If you want to catch the best of the sunshine today, the sunniest spots are expected to be in the midlands and Leinster.

Met Eireann has said that the dense fog which greeted us this morning will lift from most places early on and will be replaced with warm and sunny highs of 18 to 25 degrees in light south-east breezes.

Irish eyes have been smiling this week as they have experienced hotter temperatures than the likes of Portugal, Turkey, Greece and Italy.

You better enjoy the sun while it lasts though. Met Eireann has said that Friday will become cloudy again with some rain and showers throughout the country.
