Confusion has set in after the takeover of popular store House of Fraser.
The department store was bought at a cut price deal for £90 million by Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley last week. Ashley also owns sports retailer Sports Direct.
In the meantime, it appears that the three-storey House of Fraser store in Dundrum Town Centre has stopped accepting gift cards.
Since the takeover, House of Fraser has confirmed that “As a result of this process Sports Direct has no liability to customers in possession of existing gift cards and vouchers.”
“However we encourage these customers in possession of gift cards and vouchers to send them into the House of Fraser head office at Gift Cards, 27 Baker Street, London, W1U 8AH, whereby replacements will be issued.”
House of Fraser has confirmed on Twitter that this applies to Irish customers of the store as well.
Hi, thanks for your message. Existing Gift Cards and Vouchers aren't being accepted, however they'll be reissued. I've copied the link to our Gift Card Announcement 11th August 2018 for you to view, https://t.co/m8h33Ya0SE. I hope this helps. ~Jade
