The device was removed by an Army EOD team and the nearby area was evacuated.
A number of houses were evacuated in Drogheda following the discovery of a suspect device at a residential premises in the town on Tuesday night (29 September).
Gardaí attended the scene where the suspect device was discovered, at a residential premises in the Moneymore area of the town, at approximately 8.30pm.
It is believed that approximately 20 houses were evacuated as part of an evacuation of the area around the premises as a precaution and the Army EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) team was requested to attend.
The device has now been removed by the Army EOD team for analysis and a technical examination of the scene is due to be complete.
Investigations are ongoing.
