Very, very well deserved by two legends of the Irish airwaves.

Ian Dempsey and Dave Fanning will be inducted into the Irish radio Hall of Fame on Friday afternoon, along with Trevor Campbell from Downtown Radio and South East Radio’s Eamonn Buttle.

The ceremony will take place at midday at the BAI offices, and comes ahead of this October’s PPI Radio Awards.

All four have been stalwarts of the Irish airwaves for a number of decades.

Today FM’s Keith McCormack said of Dempsey’s accolade: “It’s a proud day for Today FM when one of our most iconic presenters is recognised within the industry for his contribution to the world of broadcasting.

“Ian represents the very best of what Today FM is as a station. Ian every day wakes up the nation with the same energy and sense of fun that listeners have come to love him for.”

Fanning’s boss at 2fm, Dan Healy, added: “Dave Fanning is a pioneer – the great voice of music and popular culture in Ireland. Dave leads and the rest of us follow. I am thrilled for Dave and his family for this well deserved honour.”
