Independent group editor-in-chief Stephen Rae to step down

Independent News and Media group editor-in-chief Stephen Rae is to step down from his position.

It’s understood the departure was made known on Wednesday but INM have yet to make an official statement on the matter.

According to The Irish Times, it’s expected that Rae will be replaced in his post by Belfast Telegraph Managing Director Richard Lean. However, Lean will be taking up the role of head of publishing

In his role as editor-in-chief, Rae had responsibility for the Irish Independent, Sunday Independent and Herald.

Rae was appointed to the position of editor-in-chief in June 2013, following spells as editor of the Irish Independent and the Evening Herald.
