A female in her 20s was also injured during the incident.
An infant girl received serious injuries during an assault that took place in Ashbourne in Meath on Monday morning.
Gardaí are currently investigating the assault, which also resulted in a female in her 20s sustaining minor injuries.
The infant girl was taken to Temple Street Children’s University Hospital following the incident; her injuries are not life-threatening.
A male in his 20s was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and is currently being detained in Ashbourne Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
