Industrial action will take place.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has confirmed that nurses will strike on March 7 with the prospect of rolling strikes from the following week.
The INMO met the Government today to discuss staffing shortfalls as well as the recruitment and retention of nurses. The outcome was that they didn’t feel the HSE’s proposals to help the situation was strong enough so industrial action was the only option left.
Under the work-to-rule action, nurses will do their normal duties on their allocated wards, but they’ll refuse to do overtime or go from ward-to-ward to plug gaps.
