Her body was discovered on Friday.

An investigation has been launched into the mysterious death of an Australian Instagram influencer, who was found dead on a yacht owned by a Mexican billionaire in Greece.

Sinead McNamara was working as a crew member on the Mayan Queen IV when she died on board the ship early on Friday.

The 20-year-old had been working on six-storey ship, valued at about US$140m, belonging to Alberto Baillères for four months.

The cause of her death has not been confirmed and according to local reports, the ship must remain in port as investigators try to discover what happened.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of McNamara’s death.

All members of Baillères’ family had left the ship on Tuesday and only crew remained on the vessel when the death occurred according to the Coast Guard, although at this stage it’s not confirmed if Alberto Baillères was on board or not.

McNamara was a Sydney-based social media influencer who had been working on the vessel as it sailed around Europe over the summer and it’s unclear what type of work she had been doing on board.

She had been promoting swimwear and skincare brands to her 22,000 Instagram followers for the past year while travelling to different exclusive resorts.
